Apnao Short Films

APNAO is a collaborative initiative of like minded organizations who want to bring a social change.
We believe Films and Stories are powerful tools to change mindsets and to influence people to do good. As part of this campaign we will produce short films, covering various aspects that are required to make a vulnerable child’s life better. The films are produced in partnership with Ur Vision Communications, a media production company with more than 20 years of experience in producing socially relevant media content.

#Apnaoitooneedafamily

Apnao #itooneedafamily is a 15 minute short film with the central theme and the message that every child needs a family. Orphanages might be a good option for an orphan child, but it is not the best option for a child to grow. The child needs a family and it’s the basic right. It is the right of every child to have a family. This idea is a different way of thinking and we believe we must advocate and propagate this narrative.

This film premiered at Apnao campaign launch with celebrities and influencers from media, entertainment industry, government officials, NGOs and activists. The film received an viewership of over 600,000 on varies social media platforms. It is being used by social workers in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka and we have requests for several Indian language versions. Along with the advocacy, we have created a support system where people interested can go deeper. This counselling group is set up online with resource people from NGOs and CARA. About 20 families are connected and some of them have started the adoption process.

#Apnaosafetyismyright

Apnao #safetyismyright is a 15 minute animation film under production. The central theme is about how all generations living in rural and urban settings are responsible to create a safe living environment for a child especially a child whose parents are not alive.

It is the duty of parents, family, the community and government to protect a child. Safety is the right of every child but in today’s world the situation is not so. Children have to speak up, they have to report and prove that they are hurt and abused. They have to be careful of where they eat, what they wear, where they go and fear is in every moment of their life. Children deserve a carefree childhood that’s secure not a life that’s always fearful of who might hurt them.
