Apnao Foundation is about empowering families so that every child would have a family, a safe environment, and a childhood. Our community service projects range from helping children directly as well as helping people who influence a child like parents, schools and other institutions.

Setting up small Businesses

Apnao Foundation helps families to have a sustainable income by giving small grants to the parents so that they can set up and run a small business. When a family income is sustained there are very little chances of a child being abandoned. Here in this picture is a father from Haryana who received help from Apnao Foundation to set up a small business of selling evening snacks on a pushcart. With the income he makes he is able to pay for the education of his children.

Girl child safety & Empowerment Projects

On the occasion of International day for eliminating violence against women, Apnao Foundation has implemented a 3 day self defence training for young girls in the Government juvenile children and observation home for girls in Nimboliadda, Kacheguda, Hyderabad.

The girls at this home are mostly Juvenile victims, girls rescued from streets or abuse cases. 60 girls were trained in basic self defense technique and skills. These girls went through rigorous training for 3 days and have learnt skills on how to attack and defend themselves from any attacker.

Bicycle Distribution

Sanjana is a 13 year old student studying in Government School Kowkur, Hyderabad. She comes from an economically poor background. Her mother is a daily wage worker at a clothing showroom, and her father passed away a few years ago. She has 2 sisters. She lives 3 kilometers away from the school she attends. She used to walk 6 kilometers each day to get to school and back home because there is no bus service and she cannot afford to pay for an autorickshaw. She found it very challenging to do this every day. Her grades used to suffer as a result of her frequent absences from school.

The school’s headmaster approached Apnao Foundation and requested that they donate bicycles in order to assist Sanjana and other children like her. Apnao Foundation through the help of generous donors was able to provide a brand new bicycle to Sanjana & several of her friends. Sanjana no longer misses her school. She consistently arrives on time and ranks among the best students in her class.

Raincoats Distribution

Apnao foundation were able to provide raincoats to the children of migrant workers in a slum in Qutubullahpur. With incessant rains in Hyderabad, children are not able to go to school on a rainy day. They either miss their classes, or even if they do go to school they are wet and prone to fall ill. With raincoats they can go the school even on a rainy day and will not miss their school classes.

Taking care of Children & Families during natural disasters
